New Years Eve

Xmas and The New Year in St Ives St Ives comes alive from its out of season slumber. Nearly all the shops and galleries have Christmas Decorations with of course a Xmas tree complete with multi-coloured lights above their windows. It is nice just to stroll along the cobbled streets and passages, and walk around the harbour at this time of year. Or watch a few hardy surfers riding any waves there may be breaking on Porthmeor Beach. New Years Eve is very special- St Ives becomes one big party. Restaurants , Hotels, Camping Cottages , Bed and Breakfast have all been fully booked for months, with tens of thousands of good natured revellers keen to see the New Year in Cornwall in style. Nearly everyone will be wearing fancy dress, those that do not feel decidedly out of place. Crowds of people come to St Ives in West Cornwall to see in the New Year. The roads around the harbour closed to traffic at dusk on and the celebrations begin in earnest. Packed inns, and restaurants. A Fireworks Display at Midnight, buskers and dancing on the Streets. St Ives Accommodation is often booked from one year to the next, with last minute visitors often having to stay some miles from the town centre.
